Accused Housing Board Refuses to Resign

ORLANDO-Mayor Larry Dale, who is also a commercial real estate developer and investor, reads the riot act to the five-member Sanford Housing Authority via a letter from the Seminole County Sheriff's office. Sanford is 25 miles north of Downtown Orlando.

ORLANDO-The five-member Sanford Housing Authority, accused of failing to supervise $1 million of federal funds earmarked for low-income apartment dwellers, refused to resign by the city’s March 29 deadline and now faces a public airing of its alleged malfeasance.

Sanford Mayor Larry Dale, a private commercial real estate developer and investor, took the next step to having the board removed by informing each of the members by letter of their alleged misconduct.

Dale had a Seminole County Sheriff’s deputy deliver the letter to each member. The board has 10 days to rebut the charges of negligence and inefficiency. After that period, the Sanford city commission will formally vote on the allegations and the mayor’s motion to fire the entire board.
