The locally-based hospitality firm tells GlobeSt.com that the opening of its 520-acre, European flagship property, St. Andrews Bay golf resort and spa, is still scheduled for June in St. Andrews.

"We've already booked quite a lot of business," Larry Mayran, marketing director for Chateau Elan, tells GlobeSt.com. "It is in a part of Scotland that is unaffected and we're pretty optimistic."

Mayran declined to say how many reservations have already been committed, but said the company is working with the Scottish Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to counter the misinformation that has been published about the hoof and mouth outbreak.

Chateau Elan Hotels and Resorts specializes in boutique and vintage hotel and resorts. It maintains numerous properties in Georgia, including its flgaship resort, Chateau Elan Winery & Resort, a 3,500-acre property, 30 minutes north of Atlanta with accommodations that average $154 to $319 per night.

The firm is a branded group of luxury US and international hotels and maintains five properties in this country.

Among them are an 1881 vintage, seven suite mansion in Savannah, GA; an 81-room Chateau Elan Hotel & Spa near the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, FL; and Diablo Grande, a 33,000-acre golf resort currently under development in Patterson, CA.

Two of six golf courses at the site are in operation, along with a winery. The inn will open next year.
