Conn's, the 110-year appliance retailer, has 30 retail stores in Texas and Louisiana. The retailer signed a 10-year lease in Capital Plaza. The near North Austin site is its second location in Austin. Lance Morris, senior vice president of The Weitzman Group in Austin, tells Globe.St.com that Conn's likes the demographics of the area as well as the tenant mix at the shopping center. "They're taking a place formerly held by Lots Off between Office Max and Bealls," Morris says. "They liked the tenant mix. Toys R Us and Weiners and Bealls are the type of neighbors they want."

Morris and Todd Wallace with the Commercial Retail Division of The Weitzman Group are Conn's exclusive leasing agents in Austin. The Weitzman Group also represents the building owner, Capital/Highway 35, LTD. Morris says Conn's has two other pieces of property under contract for the retailer to build freestanding stores.
