Hersh had held the development director post with the City of Poughkeepsie and also served in an executive position with Reynolds Metals Development Company. He managed properties for Reynolds in Rockland County.

Myrna Chase, acting provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs of Baruch College and Henry Wollman, director of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, announced the appointment of Hersh to the post at the Newman Institute. Hersh will be working on expanding the Certificate Program offered jointly by the Newman Institute and Baruch College's Division of Continuing Study and the Newman Institute/City University of New York Urban Consortium. He will also be working on participating in roundtables, forums and publications of the Newman Institute.
