The name Caribou Ranch comes from the name of a mining camp in the 1880s that was near the site. The undertaking is a mixed-use project that includes a 13-acre, grocery-anchored retail center. The development will feature 608 home sites, with lots ranging in price from the mid-$80,000s to about $130,000. The residential component calls for single-family, cluster housing, townhomes, duplexes, condominiums and mountain cabins.
The Caribou Ranch proposal also calls for an 18-hole golf course designed by Craig Stadler, a PGA champion who now lives in Denver. Stadler will work with Tripp Davis and Associates. Niebur Golf, based in Colorado Springs will build the course. Other development amenities are a 13,000-sf clubhouse, swimming pools and a skating rink.
