Artist Collective Opens Downtown Studio & Coffeehouse

ENCINITAS, CA-An old downtown warehouse converted into an art center and coffeehouse allows the public to watch artists work and attend arts performances. The new facility, which opened Saturday,is part of the city's plan to create a friendly downtown atmosphere.

ENCINITAS, CA-The 101 Artists Colony, an artist collective, opened a new space Saturday in an old downtown warehouse between Vulcan Highway and Coast Highway 101, across from the Coaster train station and bus depot. The new center is part of the city’s overall plan create an inviting downtown community atmosphere.

The new facility contains five artist studios, an art gallery, coffeehouse, performance space and a student art gallery for displaying works by area schoolchildren. The space allows the public to watch artists at work, while offering artists exposure to art consumers. Poetry readings, puppet shows and other arts entertainment will be held on the site.
