Sabrina's Hospitality Inc. and US Franchise Systems are developing the three-story, 59-suite hotel project at 7014 Will Clayton Pkwy. US Franchise Systems is the parent company to Hawthorn Ltd. Sabrina's Hospitality also owns the Budget Lodge in Channelview, TX.
The average construction time is nine months, putting delivery in the fall, says US Franchise Systems. Houston-based architect, DR Associates, has designed the hotel, which is an extended-stay venue as opposed to a full-service facility. The Hawthorn will offer amenities such as dual phone lines and voice mail, microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers and irons and ironing boards. The project also includes an outdoor pool, fitness center, business center and complimentary airport shuttle.
US Franchise sources tell GlobeSt.com that Houston's airport market had been chosen for because due diligence shows it's a good "suite market." Shell Goel, president of Sabrina's Hospitality, believes the hotel will introduce to a "quality, all-suite product" to Houston visitors.
Steve Hymans, US Franchise Systems brand marketing vice president, believes the Hawthorn presents an attractive alternative to the market in comparison to higher-priced, full-service brands. There are approximately 164 Hawthorn hotels open or under construction worldwide. Other Texas Hawthorn hotels are located in Aransas Pass, Arlington, two in Austin, Brownsville, three in Dallas, El Paso, Ft. Worth, Killeen, Lubbock, Richardson, two in San Antonio, Wichita Falls and the Austin Bergstrom and Dallas-Ft. Worth international airports.
