Mikey's Coffee House, a neighborhood gathering place, must leave the Pomerado Plaza shopping center by the end of June. Customers were being asked to sign petitions opposing the eviction.

"We're being evicted because the landlord and others around here don't like us," says Mike Chambers, 53, who has owned and operated the coffeehouse for seven years.

Officials for the property management company, Nierman-Perlman Properties, acknowledged that the shop's one-year lease won't be renewed.The company has been looking at opening a Starbucks at the site.
