The announcement was made by LA-based CB Richard Ellis, the project's exclusive marketing and leasing agent. Privately held Pacific Development is based in Newport Beach.

Colonies Crossroads will stand along the new 28-mile I-210 Freeway extension. It is part of a 434-acre master planned community called Colonies at San Antonio.

Originally, the complex was approved as a 60-acre commercial development. It has since been expanded to its current size of 105 acres and will encompass more than 1 million sf of commercial space, says Dan Richards, one of Colonies Crossroads' managing partners.

Plans for Colonies Crossroads include a major general merchandiser, as well as home-improvement, grocery, drug and specialty retail stores. The project's owners have scheduled the opening of the complex to coincide with the completion of the 28-mile freeway extension, which is slated for the fourth quarter of 2002.
