The three-story hotel at 9136 Explorer Dr. is close to the US Air Force Academy, US Olympic Training Center, Garden of the Gods Park, and Chapel Hills regional mall.

Colorado Springs is the state's second largest city and about 60 miles south of Denver."The need for hotels that cater to guests staying five or more consecutive nights greatly exceeds the available supply," says Elaine Hofmann, the hotel's general manager. "Our new facility was created specifically to meet the special needs of these travelers."

The 127 residential-style units include fully equipped kitchens and separate sleeping and living areas. The hotel includes an outdoor swimming pool, executive business center, exercise room, picnic area, on-demand videos and meeting space. Houston-based Homewood Suites had been founded in 1989.
