In the report, researchers at George Mason University say the sites and 637 others nationwide held small lead smelters at some point between the late 1930s and the early 1960s, according to old industrial directories. None of the sites appears on the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality 's database of potentially hazardous sites.

According to the report, one of the sites is home to riverTec, a new Pearl District office complex created form the former Eoff Electric building at 1233 N.W. Kearney St. The two-story building holds Nike, a Wells Fargo Bank branch and others.

The second site is 303 N.W. Park Ave., which holds a vacant two-story building available for lease. The third site is 1434 S.W. Front Ave., a grassy knoll across from the Marriott Hotel that used to be the home of Multnomah Metal Co.
