The recently opened 12-story, 202-suite project is part of the Woodfin Suites Hotel chain, owned by hotel developer Sam Hardage, according to Christopher Veum, president of the San Diego-based architecture, planning and engineering firm.
General contractor Hardage Construction built the 182,000-sf, concrete construction project on a two-acre site at 5800 Shellmound St. in San Francisco's East Bay area. The facility includes a library, art gallery, pool and spa facilities, a restaurant and bar, conference and meeting rooms and 235 parking spaces, with eight additional parking spaces for the handicapped. The development also includes a 12,300-sf retail/restaurant parcel along Shellmound Street.
In addition to Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle Chairman Doug Austin, who served as principal in charge, the architecture team for the Woodfin Suites project included John Vredeveld, project manager, and Nicholas Loisos, project architect.
Jane McGuire and Louis Frye of Frye Design provided interior design. Other major consultants on the development team include Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire, structural engineers, and TKG, mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineers.AVRP also designed a recently completed Woodfin Suites Hotel in San Diego's Sorrento Valley.
