BEAVERTON, OR-Home Depot’s request for a conditional use permit to develop a 105,500-sf store and a two-story parking garage at Southwest Fifth Street and Western Avenue was unanimously rejected last week by the Beaverton planning commission.

After praising the Atlanta-based retailers efforts to appease neighbors’ concerns, commission members essentially said the 105,500-square-foot store with an attached 14,700-square-foot garden center and an adjacent two-story parking structure was not appropriate for the location.

The Atlanta-based retailer is expected to appeal the commission’s decision to the Beaverton City Council. Home Depot’s appeal is tentatively scheduled for the May 14 council meeting.
