DENVER-The multifamily housing market here will remain strong and increasingly expensive in the coming years, shows a report by Steve Rahe, a vice president and apartment broker with CB Richard Ellis. “There is a sense that our Colorado economy is slowing a bit,” according to the report. “The average annual rental increase dating back to 1992 is 6.96%. It is difficult to maintain that consistency indefinitely. Although there is discussion of a slowing Colorado economy, there is not yet any evidence of it in the multifamily market.”

The report notes that strong population and employment growth have produced an expanding rental market. “‘Rents have risen significantly, thus making it difficult for many to find affordable housing,” the report notes.
