The new enhancements to D17 Tools include linking design, estimating and bid specifications within the software. By linking these functions, ADC officials say users should be able to save time and money by reducing errors and rework. The improvements will allow users, once a drawing is complete, to create estimates and bid specifications with the push of a button.

D17 Tools is based upon the proposed Division 17 addition to the Construction Specifications Institute MasterFormat, according to ADC officials.

"It is apparent that Division 17 is coming," says Jane Livingston, director of data connectivity systems for ADC. "It will change the way architects, consultants, engineers and end users design, build and manage voice and data networks."

ADC is a supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband, multi-service networks.
