The association awarded San Diego-based Senior Resource Group its Best of Seniors Housing Design Award for the Hawthorn Court at Ahwatukee project, a 44-unit dementia care community in the Ahwatukee Foothills area of Phoenix.

Senior Resource Group is the developer and manager of the community, the only assisted-living community in the area dedicated to serving the special needs of people who require care for dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

"Hawthorn Court was developed after years of research in the fields of gerontology, dementia and Alzheimer's care, hospitality and dining, architecture and interior design," said Michael Grust, president of Senior Resource Group.

Apartments are configured in two 22-unit residential wings within a 37,000-sf, one-story building.
