Mission Buys Former Hoffman-Cortes Building

KANSAS CITY-City Union Mission will move administrative offices to the 11,000-sf building, which it bought for about $650,000. Hoffman-Cortes will be moving to a building that it renovated near 16th and Baltimore.

KANSAS CITY-This month, the City Union Mission will be moving into a building formerly occupied at Hoffman-Cortes Contracting Co. The building constructed in 1986 on 10th Street, near Troost Avenue, has about 11,000 sf.

The purchase price for the Hoffman-Cortes building was about $650,000. The move was somewhat unexpected, but the City Union Mission had its eye on the location. The charitable organization needed more space than what was available at its building on 11th Street. The mission will move its administrative offices to the new location, making room for a health clinic, learning center and additional beds at the current location, says a mission spokesperson.

Hoffman-Cortes will be moving to a building that it renovated near 16th and Baltimore, near where the new performing arts center is scheduled to be built. Space is available for lease in the Hoffman-Cortes new location. About 6,000 sf is open on the first floor and the two upper floors each have about 12,000 sf available.
