Active East Bay Industrial Market Tightening

OAKLAND, CA-While office markets here and across the Bay in San Francisco are leveling off, the market for industrial and warehouse space remains very active, says Keith Mackenzie, Grubb & Ellis managing director and senior vice president, making it “harder and harder to find quality space in the future.”

East Bay manufacturers and retailers find the city-offered incentives and the accessible space in Oakland attractive. Recent deals include the 10-year lease on 214,200 sf in Edgewater Industrial Center inked by Burlingame-based Metropolitan Furniture Corp. The 396,500 sf industrial center includes warehouse, distribution, manufacturing and office uses and is located across from the Oakland Coliseum and minutes from Oakland International Airport. The rate is about 52 cents per sf per month, according to industry sources. San Francisco-base AMB Property Corp is the owner.
