Meanwhile, Target is reportedly taking over two other former Wards stores in Portland. The big box retailer has acknowledged purchasing the Jantzen Beach location, but real estate sources say the company also has acquired or is acquiring the Mall 205 locations as well. Unlike Meier & Frank, Target does not yet have existing locations in either mall.

With the 2002 opening of the recently announced new store at The Shops at Tanasbourne, Meier & Frank will operate six stores in Portland and nine stores in Oregon. When Target opens its new locations, it will have no less than eight locations in the Portland area.
