The 60,640-sf facility, located at 408 Myrtle Ave., has stadium-style seating for 3,027 people and includes an IMAX theater, full digital sound and wall-to wall screens. The building is part of a redevelopment plan for the city core which consists of retail centers, restaurants and office buildings.

"Not only do you have to work within an extremely tight space in which to stage our construction equipment and materials, but you must conduct your operation to accommodate the day-today rhythm and schedules of the surrounding businesses and tenants," says Andrew L. Youngquist, president of BCS. "Over the years and through experience, we have developed scheduling systems and operational procedures that allow us to complete these downtown theater projects on time and with minimum disruption to the community's workflow and daily traffic patterns."

Designed by Gensler Architects of Santa Monica, the complex is concrete block construction with an exterior that complements the surrounding neighborhood. BCS has built similar theater megaplexes in other cities throughout California.
