The 65-acre project is at the northeast corner of East Alameda Avenue and Interstate 225. A total of 109,000 vehicles on Interstate 225 daily drive by the site and 47,900 on Alameda Avenue.
A 175,000-sf Super Target will anchor the urban village project. The pedestrian-friendly center will include boutiques, street café, and open gathering places.
During the past five years, the trade area around the Aurora City Center has grown by more than 10% to a current population of 140,273. The area is projected to grow to 146,909 by 2004. The median family income in the area is just over $42,000, with more than 80% holding white-collar positions.
The center is adjacent to the 950,000-sf Aurora Mall, owned by the Simon Property Group and a new 16-screen Century Theatre. "This will serve as a true city center for the community, housing a government facility and transportation center," Skip Miller, principal of his namesake firm, tells GlobeSt.com.
