The $40-million Valley View casino, on Lake Wohlford Road near Valley Center Road, will open at 8 p.m. Wednesday, with 760 slot machines, 12 blackjack tables and a 24-hour buffet.
The 43,000-sf casino is a temporary facility. The tribe is scheduled to open a $180-million resort next year on another part of its Valley Center-area reservation.
In the California's first tribe-to-tribe financial arrangement, the casino and resort are being financed by Louisiana's Tunica-BiloxiIndians. The Louisiana tribe's business entity, First Nations Gaming, also is building a $30-million casino and truck stop near Campo.
Twelve of San Diego County's 17 tribes have formed gambling compacts with Gov. Gray Davis, giving the region the largest number of proposed gaming facilities in the state.--
