The privately held Jupiter Realty had purchased the 42,645-sf, European-style lodge in 1998, says E. Michael Pompizzi, Jupiter's executive vice president and CFO. Jupiter had invested $2 million into renovating and refurbishing the lodge's guestrooms and public areas soon after purchasing it.

The lodge is in the heart of Aspen's boutique shopping and restaurant district. The L-shaped wood-and-stone lodge also is steps form the Silver Queen Gondola. The 90-room lodge includes a 100-seat restaurant overlooking Aspen Mountain, heated swimming pool and spa, ski shop, massage therapy and workout rooms.

A team of brokers from Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels in New York City and Los Angeles has handled the transaction. Arthur Adler, managing director and CEO, has led the team from Jones Lang LaSalle's New York City office.
