The seller was AutoNation. The sales price was not immediately available. Colliers International vice president Sandra Weck represented Safeway in the transaction; Bob Berndt with Staubach Retail Services represented AutoNation.

Safeway Real Estate manager Brandon Farrell says Safeway has been looking for a site in downtown Dublin for a number of years. The AutoNation site is near the downtown hub, he says.

Safeway Inc. is one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America. As of December 30, 2000, the company operated 1,688 stores in the Western, Southwestern, Rocky Mountain, Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States and in western Canada.
