SAN LEANDRO, CA-After more than two years of waiting, a brand new Century 16 movie theater opened on Friday in the 40-year-old Bayfair Mall. Larry Moorefield, vice president for mall owner Heitman Retail Properties of Chicago, says the $12 million project should do wonders for mall anchors Long’s Drug and Macy’s.

“The theater will serve as an anchor to the already existing businesses that are there including Chevy’s Restaurant and the mall food court,” Moorefield tells GlobeSt. “There’s also a now defunct Wards store that along with new retailers is likely to (generate) renewed interest in the mall.”
