Stadium Bill Clears Final Senate Committee

MIAMI-Florida Senate Appropriations Committee votes 16-2 for a proposal to rebate state sales tax dollars to help finance construction of a new ballpark for the National League's Florida Marlins.

MIAMI-The state Senate Appropriations Committee voted 16-2 late Tuesday in favor of a plan to use sales tax revenue to help finance construction of a new stadium for the National League’s Florida Marlins.

In clearing the final Senate committee, the bill filed by Sen. J. Alex Villalobos (R-Miami) now becomes eligible for a full Senate vote.

The bill is converging with a companion bill filed by Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Miami) in the state House of Representatives, which passed through final committee action last week.
