Nippon Kayaku Renews Lease

WHITE PLAINS-International manufacturing firm Nippon Kayaku America has renewed its lease a year ahead of time at 711 Westchester Ave.

WHITE PLAINS-Nippon Kayaku America Inc. has renewed its lease a year early at 711 Westchester Ave., according to Jeffrey H. Newman, executive vice president of W&M Properties, the marketing and managing agent for the building. A tenant since 1996, Nippon will continue to occupy its second-floor, 1,990-sf office space for an additional six years. Nippon is a manufacturer engaged in a number of industries including pharmaceuticals, color chemicals, agrochemicals, explosives and catalysts.

In representing the building owner (an affiliate of the Malkin family) in the lease negotiations, Newman was assisted by JoAnn B. McGrath, W&M Properties’ vice president of leasing and marketing, and Laurie A. Wade, W&M Properties’ leasing associate. Stuart Grant and Tomoko Sasaki of Chilmark Consultants Inc. negotiated for the tenant. W&M Properties is the real estate management, marketing and acquisition arm of the Malkin family, which has commercial and residential operations in eight states. The property is a 120,000-sf office building located within the White Plains Office Park, along the Platinum Mile between the Hutchinson River/Merritt Parkways and Downtown White Plains. The Westchester County Chapter of BOMA named the property the Office Building of the Year in 1998.
