Septic System Failures Could Force Lake County to Change the Rules

TAVARES, FL-Orlando's next-door county may hold single-family and multifamily developers to two homes per acre instead of four homes when the projects aren't hooked up to city sewer lines. The move would cut into the project's profit picture, sources tell GlobeSt.com.

TAVARES-A pending Osceola Circuit court lawsuit on alleged defective septic tank systems in new subdivisions already is touching political nerves in Lake County where 216 homes near Clermont, FL reported inadequate wastewater drainage.

The subdivisions, 638-home Greater Hills and 378-home Greater Pines, being developed by Altamonte Springs, FL-based Greater Construction Co., are 25 miles from Downtown Orlando.

Greater Construction is suing the septic tank system manufacturer and the installer for damages that could reach $1 million, lawyers following the case privately tell GlobeSt.com.
