Plans for the new facility call for the creation of a new shuttle service by the Department of Transportation that would pick up riders in surrounding neighborhoods and bring them to the hub for bus service. The entire complex is expected to include 24-hour childcare facilities, convenience shopping and other commercial services.

The new facility is expected to be located near Chandler Park and Conner and Shoemaker across from the newly constructed townhouses of the Parkside public housing facility. The new venture will also complement a recently opened waterpark, remodeled golf course and new BLIMPIE's Sub & Sandwich Shop all located in the same area.

In this case, the federal government will contribute $3.8 million, the state of Michigan is contributing $750,000 and the city is contributing$1 million in general obligation bonds pending approval of the budget by city council.
