Manchester Resorts, which developed the existing 875-room Hyatt, which opened in December 1991, now has until Aug. 3 to get the funding. The most recent dateline expired April 13.
The expansion project will require some $275 million. City officials say it is crucial to keeping convention business at the newly expanded San Diego Convention Center, which will require larger blocks of rooms than are presently available.
