Dimond is principal of the 10-year-old Denver-based Stonebridge Cos., which owns and operates more than 30 hotels in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado and Washington.
The company holds operating licensees for Choice, Hilton, Bass, Marriott and Radisson. Propertybrands include Comfort Suites, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Hampton Inn & Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Radisson and SpringHill Suites by Marriott.
With more than 3,000 rooms, Stonebridge is the nation's 51st largest owner/developer of hotels.
Stonebridge Cos. grew primarily by constructing hotels. The company has roughly doubled its room count since 1998. Early development was comprised of limited-service hotels, first in Colorado and later in other western states. Now that it is well-established, the company is focusing future expansion on three- and four-star properties.
The Asian American Hotel Association was formed with the goals of addressing discrimination and increasing awareness of Asian Americans in the hospitality industry. The organization serves its membership through the development of programs that foster education, political awareness and contribution as well as charitable donations.
"While the award is presented to an individual, Stonebridge Companies and the people who make up this organization are the ones who earned it," says Dimond. "I'm just the guy who was fortunate enough to accept it."
