Heavin says land buyers are focused on obtaining market presence in key areas such as the southwest, Texas 290 corridor, west side in the Interstate 10 area and the Woodlands. Heavin believes the stellar year will continue as long as Houston's economy continues to perform.

Recent land deals include the sale of slightly more than five acres in Cedar Crossing Business Park. Foodcom International, Inc. has sold the property to CIM Industries. B. Kelley Parker III and John M. Talhelm of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. have represented Foodcom in the deal. Also in Cedar Crossing Business Park, the same Cushman & Wakefield broker team has represented Cedar Crossing LP in the sale of about 2.3 acres to CIM Industries.

Talhelm flew solo when representing Robert H. & Virginia M. Lenke in the sale of their five acres at Wesco Way in Harris County. L&R Investments is the buyer.

Other recent land deals include about 1.2 acres along Texas 146 at Fairmont in La Porte, TX to Regency Inn of Sandestin Inc. Jim Thompson of Grubb & Ellis has represented the seller, 146 Partners. Boyd Page broker Culver G. Stedman has handled the 20,170-sf land sale at 107 W. First St. to First Humble Ltd. A 6,046-sf building is situated on the property. Compass Bank-Houston has acted on seller Stedman's behalf.
