The Birch Street development is comprised of retail, residential and office space. Tenants that will anchor the second and final phase include Tower Records, clothing retailers Old Navy and Clothestime, and several restaurants.

Many of the businesses in the just-completed final phase will open in the next month or two, says CIM Group principal Shaul Kuba. Tenants in the first phase, which opened last December, include other restaurants as well as retailers that range from designer Eddie Bauer to fast-growing footwear company Sketchers Inc.

In all, the redevelopment project includes more than 500,000 sf of retail and entertainment space, about 200 homes and lofts, and parking for 2,880 cars. Privately held CIM Group has worked on a number of other wildly successful street retail projects, including Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Old Town Pasadena and the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego.
