City Council Passes Hotel Ordinance

SANTA ANA-The ordinance limits the length of time visitors may stay at hotels in which 25% or more of the guests are actually living there. It will not affect hotels that are used mainly by leisure and business travelers.

SANTA ANA-Santa Ana City Council members this week passed an ordinance limiting visitors’ stays at some area hotels, in a vote of seven to zero.

The measure applies to “resident” hotels, in which 25% or more of the guests are actually living at the hotel. It will not affect hotels that are used mainly by leisure and business travelers.

The ordinance prohibits guests from staying at certain Santa Ana hotels for more than 28 consecutive days or more than 28 days within a 60-day period. It was approved yesterday.
