ATLANTA-Home Depot Co.'s chief financial officer Dennis Carey is moving into the new position of executive vice president of business development, strategy and corporate operations, where his responsibilities will include overseeing real estate.

In his new role, Carey will also be responsible for construction and store planning, leading the growth steering committee and heading up various departments that include information services, risk management, strategic business development and credit marketing.

He is being replaced by Carol Tome, promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Carey, who was already an executive vice president, came to Home Depot in 1998 from AT&T. Prior to that, he held several operational and financial positions at GE.

The move is one of several actions taken recently by Bob Nardelli who has fine-tuned top-tier management since joining the company as CEO in December.
