The Snoqualmie River was recently ranked by American Rivers as one of America's most endangered rivers, constantly being influenced by urban sprawl and development. Property the salmon habitat has again been front-page news and magnified by the lack of Northwest rainfall the past year. The Washington State Salmon Recovery Funding Board was instrumental in helping securing the funds for the purchase.

Conservationists say that while King County has done a decent job conserving key parcels in the Snoqualmie River Watershed, the overall plan for the river system needs to be broadened.
