FALL CITY, WA-The Snoqualmie River, which supports one of King County’s largest salmon runs, got a little boost yesterday from county taxpayers. County officials paid $210,000 for 50 acres of land from three owners that include nearly one half mile of riverfront and acres of tributaries for raising juvenile salmon. The area is about a mile downstream from the confluence of the Snoqualmie and Raging rivers in a popular hiking area.

The Snoqualmie River was recently ranked by American Rivers as one of America’s most endangered rivers, constantly being influenced by urban sprawl and development. Property the salmon habitat has again been front-page news and magnified by the lack of Northwest rainfall the past year. The Washington State Salmon Recovery Funding Board was instrumental in helping securing the funds for the purchase.
