The hotel, which is under development by JMI Realty and scheduled to open in late fall, is valued at about $50 million. It is being built at the corner of El Camino Real and Valley Center Drive, north of the Carmel Valley Road exit off of Interstate 5.

"The Del Mar Marriott will be Marriott's only full-service lodging facility located between north San Diego and Orange County," said Greg Clay, JMIR's director of hospitality development. The general contractor for the Del Mar Marriott is Swinerton & Walberg. Marriott International will manage the property.
