The center also includes academic and academic support areas, a 5,000-sf Aztecs Hall of Fame, a media relations office, a main utility plant and weight rooms and lockers for various sports. Managed by Hines Interests, crews broke ground at the 184,000-sf site in August 2000 and the project is on target for completion this summer.
San Diego-based Carrier Johnson designed the space. Major subcontractors include ECI/Encompass for electrical work, Sherwood Mechanical for plumbing and Southland Mechanical for mechanical work. The project is part of the Aztec Walk Master Plan, a major capital improvement initiative approved by the California State University Board of Trustees in May 1999.
