Leventhal is being recognized for his contributions of service and leadership to his community and the building industry, according to a CBIF spokesperson. A seasoned veteran of the industry, Leventhal started the accounting firm, Kenneth Leventhal & Co., in 1949.
His company quickly received recognition among real estate developers and construction lenders, as the firm specialized in taxation and management matters affecting the real estate development industry. The firm also became a leader in merging homebuilders with publicly traded companies. Its international affiliation, Clark Kenneth & Co., eventually became the 9th largest international accounting firm.
In 1994, Leventhal retired and his firm merged with Ernst & Young to become the E&Y Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group. He now serves as a trustee at the University of Southern California.
