Equity Firm Buys Restaurant Company

MINNEAPOLIS-Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison, Inc. along with BancBoston Capital plan to grow Bakers Square and Village Inn family style restaurants in the Rocky Mountain region, upper Midwest, California, Arizona and Florida.

MINNEAPOLIS-Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison, Inc., a private equity firm, along with BancBoston Capital, which specializes in restaurant acquisitions, has bought VICORP Restaurants, a Denver-based restaurant chain, for $25.64 a share, thecompanies say. VICORP Restaurants will be owned by a newly formed affiliate of BancBoston Capital and Goldner Hawn.

VICORP operates and franchises about 374 mid-scale family-type restaurants, principally under the names Bakers Square and Village Inn, with concentrations in the RockyMountain region, upper Midwest, California, Arizona and Florida. After completion of the transaction, VICORP will continue to be headquartered in Denver and will operate as a private company – no longer trading its stock on the NASDAQ.
