The six facilities, five in Orange County and one in Los Angeles County, will either be sold to state-approved licensees or shut down by the end of June. The company will assist the 25 disabled clients who live in the homes to find new residences.
The announcement follows a state probe into the Camden Westview Care Home, where a caregiver allegedly raped a 30-year-old woman. The state is revoking the facility's license and says it is not the first case of misconduct involving Westview's residential-care homes.
A Westview spokesperson says that financial factors also led to the decision to get rid of the homes. The facilities lost more than $38,000 in the first three months of 2001, the company reports.
