School District Seeks Bids for USPS Site

SEATTLE-The district purchased the 350,000-sf building in 1999 from Lowe Enterprises for approximately $12 million and in it plans to combine a variety of operations. It plans to spend an estimated $20-$26 million on the remodel.

SEATTLE-The Seattle School District is seeking bids to renovate the 350,000-sf former United States Postal Service Distribution Center, a downtown landmark here at the intersection of Third Avenue South and Lander Street.

The district purchased the 350,000-sf building in 1999 from Lowe Enterprises for approximately $12 million and in it plans to combine a variety of operations. It plans to spend an estimated $20-$26 million on the remodel.

Part of the facility will become a large food preparation area. The facility also will be used for storage, support services and several department offices.
