Meanwhile, about 4% expect to make cutbacks, while 45% 5 expect payrolls to remain steady. About 3% have not determined their needs. ``Last quarter the employment scene in San Diego remained optimistic, when 38% of employers forecasted adding workers and 17% anticipated reductions,'' said Mel Katz, co-owner and executive officer of Manpower Staffing Services of San Diego. ``These new numbers are great; while the rest of the country is battling workforce reductions, San Diego is showing signs of growth.''
In the third quarter, job creation is planned in construction, durable and non-durable goods manufacturing, transportation/public utilities, whole/retail trade, finance/insurance/real estate, education, services and public administration.
