The 1,300-acre Jefferson County property, highlighted by its the 300-slip boat marina and 27-hole golf course, includes a small shopping center, motel, recreational vehicle park and sewage treatment plant the serves the entire community.

Pope, which controls more than 600,000 acres of timberland in California, Washington, Oregon and Canada, first began developing the area in 1968. The golf course quickly became one of the most popular in the Puget Sound region.

HCV Pacific plans to refurbish the retail and residential portions of the 1,300-acre resort. A spokesman for HCV says the company plans to build 50-75 homes a year until all of the 350 residential lots are developed. Pope says it will retain its undeveloped property adjacent to the resort.
