Chesapeake Hotel Group To Manage Vanderbilt Hall

NEWPORT, RI-Chesapeake Hotel Group assumes management of Vanderbilt Hall here. The building, which was originally bestowed to the community by the Vanderbilt family in 1909 as a YMCA, is now a 52-room, full-service hotel.

NEWPORT, RI-Chesapeake Hotel Group assumed management of Vanderbilt Hall here. The nearly 100-year old hotel is this city’s only four-diamond property and has historic significance in this area.

The hotel is located in the Historic Hill district here and until five years ago, was controlled by the Restoration Foundation, which used its basement as a mill house for restoring other pieces of architectural antiquity. Vanderbilt Hall was originally bestowed to the Newport community as a YMCA in 1909 by the Vanderbilt family, from which it is named.
