COSTA MESA, CA-A 1.6-acre parcel in Costa Mesa has been sold to a locally based developer that plans to construct a mixed-use facility on the site, located on Bristol at the 55 Freeway. Bristol Design Center LTD paid the locally based Deacon Family Trust approximately $1.3 million for the property.

Bristol Design Center will build a 26,000-sf tilt-up office and retail building on the site, according to a company source. Construction is slated to begin in June, with completion expected by the end of the year. The space will be able to accommodate anywhere from one tenant to six tenants, according to the source.

Bruce E. Singer of Prudential RB Allen Commercial Real Estate Services represented the seller. Bristol Design Center LTD was represented in-house.

The combination of office and retail space is a favorite among developers, as the office sector provides a built-in number of daily customers that can sustain the retail portion of the development during shaky economic times.
