The unit's brief is to contributing design guidance to the draft London Plan; to catalyseg innovative and intensified development in up to five sites; to improve London's public realm from parks and green spaces to street furniture and to champion good design in the GLA and other London bodies' own property developments.
Lord Rogers said: 'The arrival of the GLA and the preparation of the London Plan offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to change the way London looks and works as one of the world's greatest cities.' And Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, said: 'I want Richard Rogers to inspire London with the ideas that made the Urban Task Force Report such an important document.'
