Ocean Journey Aquarium Studying Expansion

DENVER-Chief Operating Officer Doug Townsend is studying other aquariums around the country before deciding on pursuing a 10,000-sf exhibit space project for about $5 million. His decision is expected later this summer.

DENVER-Colorado’s Ocean Journey, a non-profit aquarium approaching its second-year anniversary in Denver’s Central Platte Valley that draws about a million visitors a year, is mulling an expansion for temporary exhibits. ”We are in some early stages of discussion on that,” Doug Townsend, chief operating officer of COJ tells GlobeSt.com.

”We’re just figuring out what we would want to put in the space, and what the space should look like and how we would raise money for it,” Townsend continues, adding the expansion would ”just add to the value for what people would get for the admission price.”
