Shurgard Tries Kiosks for Off-Hours Service

SEATTLE-Shurgard Storage Centers is installing an experimental kiosk system at 12 of its facilities. The locally based, publicly traded REIT says the kiosks are the first to be tried in the self-storage industry, giving customers the ability to contract for storage and communicate on customer service issues during hours when the facilities have been traditionally closed.

The network of kiosks used by Shurgard will be remotely monitored and managed from the TouchVision Network Operations Center. “We believe that placing these systems at our stores will greatly improve the level of service we provide our customers and extend the hours our storage centers are accessible,” says Shurgard’s Bill Ward.
